DSC09805Vice Minister for Commerce Ministry of PRC and the China Ambassador for Myanmar, the persons concerned with some companies which have invested in Myanmar and journalists attended the press.

“I do not believe that recent events which have come out could affect the trust of Chinese investors. It is natural that any enormous business has difficulty. All causes need to be carefully considered. Bilateral cooperation can cope with the hardships. I think it is no point of harming economic development of both China and Myanmar,” said Vice Minister Mr. H.E Chen Jian.

“ The CNPC has implemented the installation of gas-pipe in accordance with international standards and gas-pipe has been buried at the depth of 1.2 m underground. Compensation for locals has been made by the company after it has negotiated with local authorities, local farmers,” explained one of the representatives of CNPC Company invested in gas excavation in Kyaukphyu – Rakhine State

“Chinese companies in Myanmar need to obey the Myanmar law and the local customs and make sure that locals could benefit from all projects. Action will be taken against the company which takes no heed of them. There are certain rumor and exaggeration which have had some repercussions on the firm. The CNPC should invite journalists to study their worksites,” said Vice Minister.

“Myanmar economy is looking up despite the fact that there are some difficulties that any country often faces. We see Myanmar Government is making efforts to over come them. Those difficulties are impermanent. Myanmar rich in natural resources has good opportunities,”

He continued he does not think that the entering of Western countries and Japan will affect the interest between China and Myanmar.

“Myanmar’s open-door system doesn’t harm China and it’s natural that a country which wants progress embraces open-door system. China has become a developed one after having practiced open-door system for thirty years. There are so many firms owned by Westerners and Japanese in China. We would like to see much more foreign investments in Myanmar” said he.

“It is important that there must be transparency. Media groups should observe project areas in person. If we want development, we need to deal with one another. Only then we understand one another. We need to accept real situation and we have found that protestors in some project areas are not local people. There need to be mutual understanding,” he added.

He concluded that if projects are terminated, Myanmar would more suffer from them then China would. Press Conference was over at about 10:10 am.
