KIA troops had to withdraw from Manau Bum area in KIA’s 17th Battalion territory as Burmese army reinforced its troops with more infantry and artillery units on April 21 at 1:30 pm. Burmese army’s artillery units under 127th Light Infantry Regiment (LIR) and 312nd Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) have continuously fired with 81 mm artillery shells on KIA’s 17th Battalion positions since 7 am on April 21.
The two sides have engaged in a series of battles in Manau Bum area in northern Shan state since April 19.
Fierce fighting took place as a combined force of Burmese army’s 127th LIR and 322nd LIB invaded KIA’s Manau Bum from Manton on April 20 at 11:05 am. Another column of government troops from 127th LIR and 129th LIR advanced into KIA’s Manau Bum from Pang Hkam on the same day at 12:30 pm.
Fighting continues to rage between Burmese army and allied troops from KIA, Palaung and Shan army in Manton, Nam Hkam and Tangyan townships in northern Shan state.
In Kachin State, Burmese army troops under 21st Light Infantry Regiment reportedly fired on KIA’s Law Hkum post under 3rd Battalion with several rounds of 81 mm mortar shells on April 15, said a Kachin frontline source.
