32 refugees died when a fire broke out around 3.15 pm Friday 22nd March, in Ban MaeSurin camp, MaeHongSon Province.- The fire swept through sections 1 and 4 of the camp but was brought under control around 5.30 pm.
- Over 400 households have been destroyed leaving around 2,300 people homeless.
- The clinic, school, nursery school, warehouses and other Community buildings were also destroyed.
- Some of the injured have been transferred to local district hospitals or Chiang Mai.
- Thai Government officials are at the site today Saturday 23rd March, along with NGOS, UNHCR and the Karenni Refugee Committee to conduct an assessment of the situation.
- UNHCR immediately provided 800 plastic sheets, 1,200 sleeping mats and blankets.
- A situation report will be sent out later today including details of relief items urgently required.
- Our thoughts are with the families who have been devastated by this tragedy.

ထိုင္း-ျမန္မာနယ္စပ္ မဲေဟာင္ေဆာင္ခ႐ိုင္အတြင္းရွိ ကရင္နီ အမွတ္(၂)ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းတြင္ ယမန္ေန႔ မြန္းလြဲ ၃နာရီေက်ာ္မွ ညေန ၅နာရီခြဲအထိ မီးေလာင္မႈျဖစ္ပြား၍ လူ ၄၅ဦး ေသဆံုးၿပီး ၂၀၀ေက်ာ္ဒဏ္ရာရရွိကာ ေပ်ာက္ဆံုးသူမ်ားလည္း ရွိေနသည္။
စတင္ တည္ေတာင္လာသည့္အခ်ိန္မွစ၍ ယခုအခ်ိန္ထိ ဆိုးရြားသည့္ အလားတူ မီးေလာင္မႈမ်ဳိး မျဖစ္ဖူးခဲ့သည့္ ကရင္နီစခန္း ယခုလို မီးေလာင္မႈေၾကာင့္ ဒုကၡသည္ ၂၀၀၀ေက်ာ္ အိုးမဲ့အိမ္မဲ့ ျဖစ္ပြားခဲ့ရသလို ထိုင္း-ျမန္မာနယ္စပ္တေလွ်ာက္ ဒုကၡသည္ စခန္းမ်ားတြင္ ဆယ္စုႏွစ္ ၂ခုအတြင္း လူေသဆံုးမႈ အမ်ားဆံုး မီးေလာင္မႈ ျဖစ္သည္။
မီးေလာင္မႈသည္ အမွတ္(၂) ကရင္နီဒုကၡသည္စခန္း၏ ရပ္ကြက္(၁)တြင္ ထမင္းခ်က္ရာမွ စတင္ ေလာင္ကြၽမ္းခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္သည္ဟု ခန္႔မွန္းၾကၿပီး စခန္းတြင္းရွိ ရပ္ကြက္(၄)ခုစလံုးမွ အိမ္ေျခ ၄၂၀ မီးေလာင္သြားခဲ့သည္ဟု အခင္းျဖစ္ပြားရာသို႔ ကိုယ္တိုင္သြား ေရာက္ခဲ့သူ ကရင္နီဒုကၡသည္ေကာ္မတီ-KnRC မွ အတြင္းေရးမႉး-၂ ဦးေအာင္ဆန္းျမင့္က ေကအိုင္စီသို႔ ေျပာသည္။
“မီးေလာင္တာေတာ့ ရပ္ကြက္(၁)က ထမင္းခ်က္ရာကေန ေလာင္တာလို႔ ေလာေလာဆယ္ သိရပါတယ္။ မီးေလာင္တာ ေက်ာ္ ကူးတဲ့အခါက်ေတာ့ သံုးေလးေနရာေလာက္ ေလာင္သြားတာ။ အိမ္ေတြဟာ တစ္လံုးနဲ႔တစ္လံုး ကပ္လွ်က္ျဖစ္ေနေတာ့ မီး ေလာင္တာ ေတာ္ေတာ္ျမန္တယ္”ဟု ေျပာဆိုသည္။
ထို႔အျပင္ မီးေဘးေၾကာင့္ လက္ရွိ အိုးမဲ့အိမ္မဲ့ျဖစ္သြားသူမ်ားအား ၎အမွတ္(၂)စခန္းအနီးရွိ မဲစရင္း ေခ်ာင္းကမ္းပါးတြင္ ယာယီ ေနရာခ်ထားၿပီး အေရးေပၚ ကူညီမႈမ်ားအတြက္ ထိုင္းအာဏာပိုင္မ်ား အပါအ၀င္ ဒုကၡသည္မ်ားကို ကူညီေပးေနေသာအဖြဲ႔မ်ား ျဖစ္သည့္ TBBC, IRC ႏွင့္ IOM တို႔မွ လိုက္လံေဆာင္ရြက္ေပးလွ်က္ရွိသည္ဟု သိရသည္။
ဆက္လက္၍ ဦးေအာင္ဆန္းျမင့္က “ေလာေလာဆယ္ အိုးမဲ့အိမ္မဲ့ ျဖစ္သြားသူေတြကို အေရးေပၚ ကူညီမႈေတြ လုပ္ေပးေနပါ တယ္။ ဒဏ္ရာရတဲ့သူေတြထဲမွာ ဒဏ္ရာျပင္းထန္တဲ့ သံုးေယာက္ကိုေတာ့ မဲေဟာင္ေဆာင္ေဆး႐ံုကို ပို႔ထားပါတယ္”ဟု ျဖည့္ စြက္ေျပာဆိုသည္။
ကရင္နီအမွတ္(၂) ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းကို ၁၉၉၂ခုႏွစ္က စတင္ တည္ေတာင္ခဲ့ၿပီး လက္ရွိ ရပ္ကြက္ေပါင္း ၄ခုရွိကာ လူဦးေရ ၃,၄၀၀ (သံုးေထာင္ေလးရာ)ေက်ာ္ အေျခခ်ေနထိုင္လွ်က္ရွိကာ ၂၀၁၁ခုႏွစ္ မိုးရာသီအတြင္းက ေတာင္ကမ္းပါးၿပိဳက်၍ အိမ္ေျခပ်က္စီးမႈ မ်ားလည္း ရွိခဲ့သည္ဟု သိရသည္။
ၿပီးခဲ့သည့္ ၂၀၁၂ခုႏွစ္၌လည္း ထိုင္း-ျမန္မာနယ္စပ္ရွိ ကရင္ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းတစ္ခုျဖစ္သည့္ အုန္းဖ်န္ဒုကၡသည္စခန္းတြင္ အလား တူ မီးေလာင္ကြၽမ္းမႈ ျဖစ္ပြားခဲ့ရာ အိမ္ေျခတစ္ေထာင္ မီးထဲပါသြားခဲ့သည္။
အဆိုပါ ေလာင္ကြ်မ္းသည့္မီးမွာ ယေန႔မနက္က်မွသာ ၿငိမ္းသြားျခင္းျဖစ္ၿပီး လက္ရွိအခ်ိန္တြင္ ေပ်ာက္ဆံုးသူမ်ားကို ဆက္လက္ ရွာေဖြေနဆဲျဖစ္ရာ ေသဆံုးသူဦးေရမွာ ထပ္မံ တိုးပြားလာဖြယ္ရွိသည္ဟု ေစာင့္ၾကည့္ကူညီသူမ်ားက ေျပာဆိုေနၾကသည္။
